The Art of the Start
The idea to start this page has been on my mind for a few years now, but truly starting it has been difficult. Like many “Queenagers”, the beginning and middle of my middle age years has been filled with sickness, death, grief, and all the emotions in between. Middle age cab be liberating, but it can be absolute hell, too. Luckily, there are also many bright (and funny!) spots along the way.
While the world is a much more transparent place than it used to be, I still notice so many of my loved ones suffering in shame from issues that plague us all. And I’m not exempt from this myself. While I consider myself a pretty open person, there were/are some things that were mentally kicking my ass that I felt too scared to share. But now, I know that keeping things inside can literally make you sick. I’ve suffered from a condition called Mast Cell Activation Syndrome for a few years now, and according to my doc, the catalyst for it to express itself was me saying, “I’m fine”, even when my world was crumbling around me.
So, while I’m pretty “fine” now, sometimes I’m not. And I know sometimes, you’re not either. And that’s okay.
If you’re into creating safe spaces to share and solution, this might be the place for you. My goal is to make others feel seen when they’re vulnerable and to feel heard and not judged when they dare to share. Also, I want to laugh a LOT along the way. If this feels like you, join me. 🙂
