Half a glass, but a whole damn hangover.
I love alcohol. I always have. And it hasn’t always been a healthy love- those college years and years after divorce weren’t always pretty. But as I aged, I feel like I gained a healthier relationship and respect for drinking. A few years ago, I acquired an autoimmune disease that mandated I reduce the amount of inflammation in my body. I was totally okay with it as I had lessened my alcoholic intake dramatically at that time, having less than 10-15 drinks a year. Now, I only drink very sparingly. What amazes me is how little it takes to make me feel truly awful the next day – upset stomach, fatigue, headaches – this is after less than two drinks!
Welp, aging strikes again. This Healthline article sheds light on the biological reasons behind feeling gross the next day. Some of the reasons have nothing to do with age, but many factors definitely seem related. For those of you lucky enough to not be impacted by the aging/hangover phenomenon, God bless you. I also hate you a little.
